I began teaching Icelandic to connect with people passionate about Icelandic. Over the past 10 years, teaching online has allowed me to forge meaningful connections with students and helped me rediscover Icelandic in a deeper way.

For those looking to improve their Icelandic quickly, here’s my best advice:
Use filler words like heyrðu, hérna, or sko. Because they give you time to think about what you're going to say next and they signal to native speakers that you know some basics.
And remember: everyone struggles with a new language at first! So don’t be too hard on yourself. Connect the language to something you love, like a hobby, to make learning more enjoyable.

The course is designed for English speakers. Because English and Icelandic are very different languages, I explain things in English for most of the course so you can understand concepts more easily, and the transition to Icelandic is smoother and easier for you to understand.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
The beginner's course is designed for those who are starting from scratch, We start from the absolute basics. However, the course is also perfect for advanced beginners, as the difficulty of the lessons will gradually increase.

In addition to the basics, you can pronounce letters, numbers, and words correctly. Proper pronunciation is key to understanding and being understood in any language. Building a solid foundation in pronunciation will be essential to help you master this language!

Through the course, you will enrich your vocabulary with each lesson, covering colors, animals, food, seasons, days of the week, and much more. Through listening, lots of practice, and the exercises I have created for you, you will be able to grasp the language and understand basic dialogues in Icelandic.
